Yet Another "Classifieds" Rant

Of all the classified rants I have read, usually it is always the same things over and over. Don't get me wrong, most of the beef's drive me nuts too, but I've got a brand spankin new beef that I don't recall reading about before, and I just have to vent because I am quite p!$$ed, to say the least. Anyways, my new beef is when you make arrangements to go pick up 2 adult female balls, and you are getting picked up in a couple hours to drive to go get them and you check your email and find an email saying sorry someone offered more money for them. Quite the way to do business. :med2teeth
Feel free to use this thread as the all new "classified beefs" section.

Craig

I agree, that is among the lowest of low stunts to pull.
Trouble is, it's not much of a classified rant, it's more a 'bleeping vendor rant'.

Hey Craig brother I know how you feel man I had the same experience with a guy up there about females also man.I canceled other plans to go pick them up and just before I left I got the same thing man.
That is NO way to do business at all and just gives them a BAD name.

That's awful. I would understand if you were still dragging your *** about deciding if you wanted them or not. But to be on your way out the door to pick them up, man I would be so pissed. He could have had the decency to at least phone rather than email you about it. What if you hadn't seen the email before you left?
Just crappy business sense on his end!

Hey if they agreed to your price then said sorry so and so will give me more and you have some proof of this like an email. Then post their name so everyone knows who they are. Randy

That's a real pain. At least you caught the email before you left though, it would've been even more a bitter end if you drove all the way out there! It's so sad (for both the people and the animals) that this industry seems to attract an awful lot more of the shady folk than many others do

Another to add...

You just get off the phone (they called you) with someone saying they will be there soon to pick up an animal, but then they decide they aren't coming, only they don't bother calling... and instead email you. Obviously you aren't sitting around the computer, you are getting that animal all packed up and ready to go, and it isn't like they can't call... they just did

Yes, it could have been really bad for your health Craig.............if you know what I mean. I suspect it would take you days to walk back to Home from the "big city" if you and the poor S.O.B driving you got there and the P.O.S. did that.

That would have been bad news.

Oh no Shawn, it wouldn't have been bad for MY health at all. I can't really say the same about buddy though. I almost wish I didn't find the email, and we showed up at his door for him to tell me to my face. Now that would have been interesting.

No I don't have any emails about the original deal, I just called the number and asked how much for both of them. He told me, and I said I will take them and I will pick them up tomorrow (today now). He said perfect, gave me his address and told me to call if I couldn't make it. The worst part is, I would have paid what the other guy offered him too, but I wasn't even given that opportunity.

Oh well, we'll meet some day. :medmummy:

Sorry for the double post, I just remembered another classified beef of mine...
When the price says OBO, but the price is actually firm. A different guy a while ago had a pair of 500grammish female balls for $125 OBO each. Shipping was going to be $100. So that's $350 total for both and shipping. Seeing as it was $125 OBO each, I figured if I am getting both, he will definately knock a bit off. So I offered him $330 for them and he tells me sorry the price is firm!?! I wonder if he even knows what OBO means? Maybe he wanted $125 "O"r "B"ody "O"dour. If this was the case, I wish I knew earlier, cuz I'll give him some stanky pits for them! :medpuke:

I once flew to BC, from Ontario, with a Ball Python I was going to deliver to someone...Once there, I was even willing to drive a few hours out of my way to get to the meeting point. All for NO shipping costs.
I was going to trade for a striped albino leopard gecko. Once I got there and was ready to meet she told me, very rudely, via e-mail that she sold the leopard gecko to someone else for twice the money and didnt want to Ball Python anymore! I was some upset to say the least!!! Especially after she said she did it BEFORE I left Ontario! I then had to accomidate the BP while on vacation for 2 weeks...it was a pain in the arse.
A few years later the same person e-mailed me about some animals ...I reminded her who I was and that I was not interested in doing buisness with her. She played stupid and said she didnt remember and had no idea what I was talking about... and maybe I had the wrong person....LOL...RIGHT!! I dont forget that easily.
