Placing a heat pad on the floor might attract him.

:2yellow: happened to us a couple of nights ago....let him roam around on the bed while we watched tv..and then vanished. Found him curled up in the pillow case. good luck with the search.

look in dark, cold places too. not just the warm ones. check any vents that he can get into.

mine turned up under the cat. once i found my snake before i knew she was missing.

A friend once lost a young ball in a hundred year old house with a dirt basement! He was found safe and sound - in the dishwasher. She left the door open to air dry the dishes, and he was attracted to the warm humid air. Good luck. It happens to just about everyone.

theres a story in the uk newspapers recently of someone who lost a kingsnake and it's just been found basking in his neighbours garden. 18 MONTHS after it escaped.

wow, 18 months later?! well i don't know where to start then.. so many places it could be. i thought i had searched everywhere, but there's a few places i just didn't think he could get to,.. and he might even be moving from one place to another each night. there's is absolutely no way of him getting outside but if he tried really hard he might get into the walls.. the one thing i am worried about is if he went through the sink in my laundry room and ended up in the sewer!.. do you think there's a good chance of that?.. i didn't think of it at first because it looks like it'd be a really tight squeeze, but it looks possible and i was thinking if he was thirsty or something?..

I had one missing for 3 month once. Found her on the furnace smoke stack. She was quite a bit smaller then her siblings after not eating and she was dehydrated. But other then that fine. She just laid her first clutch of eggs for me.
If I have a loose snake I leave water bowls out so they can get to water maybe without seeking out drains that could get them into the drains and out of the house.

Look for things moved out of place and listen for thumps and bumps... I have found most missing snakes by hearing something fall over in a room where nothing should be moving.

Look under the sink under the stove and freezer and even in the couch

I have also heard of setting a trap: first you find a trash can that is to tall for the snake to get out you put that in a dark room that is not used then you use a 2x4 board to make a ramp in o the can take a dead mouse cut it open and drag it up the 2x4 board the put a living one inside the can either put it in a small cage in the bottom or use a slick side trashcan put a water bowl and a heat lamp just for extra incentive.
When the snake follows the sent in to the can it will not be able to get out.

A cheaper way is to tie a living mouse with a 2ft string to something heavy and when the snake swallows it the string will keep the snake from moving far
( I have seen this done on “The Animal Planet Network” a satellite channel) but it looks cruel to me.

In the many years ive kept snakes, and had animals escape...I personally never had any luck leaving heat-mat's or heat-lamps out. Same goes with live mice in cages on the floor. Has never worked.

18 months is along time, and if you've checked everywhere....then i dont know what else to suggest. Any escapee's ive had turned up when I stopped looking.

nono, the snake has not been gone for 18 months, that was in response to one of the replies that i got from someone who said that in uk papers there was a snake recovered after 18 months found basking in the neighbours yard.

the snake has now been gone for a little less than 2 weeks.. i'm becoming quite worried. i have not heard a SINGLE thing, and before, whenever i had him in the aquarium late at night he'd be prowling around in it and creating quite a lot of noise.. but someone told me that if they find somewhere they like they might not move from there for a long time.. i just figured that his behaviour of being active late at night would continue even when he has escaped. possible that he would make no noise at all? or has he escaped out of the sink in the laundry room?.. i've been plugging the sink but the first few days i didn't think of it. feel real foolish, i miss that bugger so much.

Don't vacuum the house at all right now either.. I had a friend who turned up with a snake in his cleaner after looking for one month.. although if you really need to do it, then vacuum. Other then that I think others here have nailed it pretty good.

Funny thing is I've fallen asleep with my Boas about 6 times now.. and all the time they either curl up in a planter that I have in my living room, or they curl up in the blanket with me. Luckily I haven't rolled over and squashed the poor things.
