do pythons get sick from holding them too much? i like my snake and he seems to like to be held but i dont want to be holding him if he isnt very active, does holding them to much make them sick?

Try to avoid hold them while they are going to shed the skin or after feeding. I don't think they get sick because of handle too much, but for sure you will give them a bit of stress.

If he/she shows no signs of stress while handeling it's no problem
i think.And like Edmond said don't handle your snake when he is in shed ore had a mail.

ya they tend to get a bit stressed if you hold them after they eat, i feed him tomorrow or saturday. when do they usually shed?

Ball Pythons are easaly stresed so too much handeling can lead to adverse reactions such as refusal to eat, once that hapends it is all down hill from there. Once they stop eating they start to lose weight and energy and some times it can get as bad as needing to force feed them after.

People need to understad if you want to hold somthing and pet it get a dog, reptiles are not ment to be handeled too much. put them in nice furnished cages with lots of hiding places and fresh water handel them when needed. Keep them clean. other than that treat them like you would a fish tank.

I also think it is very stressful for the snakes. In the case of ball python, do not handle them unnecessary, over handling of ball python is a sure way of going off feed. For retic and burm, you need to handle them regularly to get tame.

the only time i really handle him is when i need to mist him or im gunna feed him. does anybody know when he should shed?

You can hold them once a day for no more then 30 min and it will be fine..

Yea marc i agree with you.
I try to limit my outting times....but it is hard sometimes too. Easy to forget. You can also read your snake... My corn has days where she just isnt in the mood for handling. especially when she is about to shed since she cant see that well and i bet its not comfortable.
I know with my horned toad lizard a lot of her servival i swear is with the fact that i leave her alone to do her thing and thats sunbathe and eat ants. lol. Very rarely do i take her out... and if i do its with company...or a tank clean.

I dont know if shedding is a timed thing...lol but as soon as your snake starts to feed well it should happen.

ok thanks guys, my snake is usualy pritty active (loves to climb) so i only let him out when he wants to come out on his own, in my hands of course lol
