well there would be ALOT of crap to go through first such as CITES and probably a billion other things. pretty decent zoos seem to be the only people that can get them. which makes sence to me, who ever is succesfuly breeding them probably wants the babies to go to a good place and nothings better than a popular zoo where they will get good care and the public can see them. plus they get very big and quite dangerous, hopefully if some day komodos enter the pet trade people will still be careful about who they go to.

Sure you could get a komodo. You just have to be an accredited zoo or other institution. The Komodo dragon is listed on CITES Appendix I and efforts for conservation of the species is managed under a specific Species Survival Plan. If you can meet these requirement, apply for a pair (don't go for one, make it a breeding pair to help their survival). While you're waiting for the CITES permit, get your city to change the by-laws about which animals you may have within the city limits.

Now let's get serious. Anyone who's seen a komodo dragon first hand, in photos or otherwise would realize they're not the typical pet lizard. If you've done any reading about them, you would know their diet isn't the easiest to supply, but way easier than their housing requirements.

anyone that wants a komodo and is asking people to give free lizards is not right in the head..... sorry.

to answer your question though you have to be a zoo, and usually the King has to give one to you as a present.

somehow i don't think that will happen to you.
