Unhappy crappy season

For some reason this season has just sucked! Only one egg has turned out thus far after a 100% hatch rate last year. I think it is because I used a new male this time around, the eggs from my proven guys look well. Hopefully it will pick up, I have some sick tangerine albino females that are waiting for their first years. I have been calcium dusting and had calcium available at all times in a dish. What calcium do you guys reccomend? Nothing in the husbandry has changed, so do you think that it is a prob. with the male? Thanks.

Sorry to hear about the bad luck with the eggs this year. I find that every so often there is a rotten year, I almost expect it.
There seems to be some evidence that too much Vit D3 and/or not enough Vit A can cause problems with eggs, but it's still up in the air about how much it too much or too little. Have you changed your supplementation frequency with either of these two?

It could very well be a new male that's the problem, specially if he's still on the young side. Or possibly, the females were very productive last year, they might be a bit 'overworked' to produce proper eggs this year, next year should be better then.

My personal choice is Miner-all I for the leos, but there are other good choices as well.

Hmm. Come to think of it I did change calcium from minerall to bone aid. No real reason, was just doing a heat tape order and they didn't have miner-all, so I threw in a large thing of bone aid. Wonder if that has anything to do with it.

It's still circumstantial but I have read of quite a few deformed hatchlings and dud eggs from females switched to that product and a few others. I'm not saying there's a definite connection but if you do a Google search you should find some info on it.
