Soaking Boa Question

I have a female boa that has taken to spending most of her time soaking in her water dish. She eats fine, is not going into shed, and I have seen no signs of mites at all. I keep her on white paper towels so it would be easier to see if there were any mites.

Anybody have any ideas as to why she might be doing this? Is this normal? I've never had a boa soak this much before. Maybe she thinks she's a fish or something. lol

Thanks for you help.

Snakes will sometimes soak in their water if their housing is too warm. I would also double check for mites. The sneaky buggers like to hide in places like under the chin, especially in the gular fold.

In addition to what Jen said, sometimes a boa might seek refuge in it's water dish if it feels insecure, although typically Boa constrictors aren't quite that shy.

my boa used to soak a lot too but it ended up she was just in the first stages of sheading. now, that she's in full swing(of shedding i mean), she stays beside it...easy access i suppose...lol
