bulbs vs. ceramic heat emitters

I am currently using infra red heat bulbs, but have been thinking about switching to ceramic heat emitters. I have heard they give off more heat (controllable with thermostat) and they last longer. Are they more energy efficient as well?

Jenn (and her damn freaking hydro bills).

I use almost all ceramic heaters and i have found them really nice because i hated all the light(main reson for changing over). They should be more efficiant because no energy is used to make light so it requires less energy to get the same heat(as far as i know).

My bulbs usually last for a few months before burning out. I switched to CHEs over 2 years ago, and they are still functioning. Yes, they give out more heat and are more efficient. The only downside is that they dry out the terrarium more than bulbs, and may crack if you spray water directly on it when it is turned on.
