eye caps

my snake has retained his eye caps and i know its husbandry and all that...im working on it....anyway what do you all think of taking gentle tape and peeling it off gently??? anyone done it before? bad idea good idea info would be really appreciated

NO TAPE EVER!! Whomever you heard the "tape removal" from, NEVER listen to a word that person EVER has to say about reptiles again. Bad, bad bad idea. If you've found out what your husbandry issue is, leave it and they'll come off with the next shed.

thats what the vet told me too, except he really needs to eat should i wait till after his next shed to feed him or will he eat with the eyecaps? im really worried his tail end esspecially is getting skinny

Your vet?! Goes to show you that most vets don't know POOP about reptiles. If he's hungry, he'll eat with retained eyecaps. I would recommend you find a competent reptile vet, as said vet is clearly not.

oh ya and i feed live could that be the reason hes not eating with eye caps??

the eye cap has nothing to do with your snake eating or not. Ball pythons have heat pit so they see heat. Maybe the reason hes not eating is because your husbandry is off. also you can try to cover his enclosure all the way through so that its really dark in his enclosure and then he might eat. it worked for me. Hope this info helps.
