rack system for lizards

Can I put my lizards in a rack system? Do they need a lamp or is heat tape enough? I'm specifically asking about:

Leopard, Fat-tail, Crested, Tokay, and Satanic Leaf-Tail Geckos
Schneider's (Berber's) Skink
Green Anoles
small Monitor lizards
Horned (toads) Lizards
Bearded Dragons

Will this work?

BTW don't think I'm dumb enough to keep all these lizards in the same size tub

are you keeping lids on the tubs.. i may be way off trach but it would be alot better for health reasons.. and when you build the rack attach a little shelf for hand sanitiser.. lol...

Your rack would have to be very large to house bearded dragons. housing the small lizards in the rack could work out.

Herpz03: I found these tubs that are over 4 feet long and have good height and depth, so size wouldn't really be a problem.

Providing UV lighting for your beardeds, small monitors, horned lizards, green anoles and schneiders skinks might be tricky in a rack system. Not impossible, but not easy either. The cresteds and leaftails require no additional heating, so sitting in a rack with other environments that have hot spots of 100 F and up, may not be great for them. Plus, all of the animals you listed require different hot end temperatures, therefore you would have to have a lot of thermostats connected to isolated strips of heat tape.

Also, take into consideration the enjoyment you get from seeing your animals exhibit behaviours such as hunting, interaction, etc. These aren't sedentary snakes, where they would spend most of their time sitting still anyways. These lizards will go about their normal behaviour, until you open up the bins in the rack to take a look and then they will most likely either stop what they're doing or run and hide. That's the only time you'll see them.

Hope this explains the "cons" of a rack system for lizards.

cresteds and leaf-tails don't require heating? They're ok at room temp?

yes, they only require a temperature ranging anywhere between 68 - 78 F and room temp. is right around 70 F, so it's fine for them.

The ants you'll need to feed the Horned (toads) Lizards will probably escape into your house....

...... monitors don't do well in racks at all!!

..... and the green anoles will climb the walls and out through the smallest gap.

Ok, you've convinced me against the monitors. I also see your point on the ants. The lids on the tubs are tight fitting and lockable so there won't be any gaps, only holes drilled for ventilation. Why don't monitors do well in this type of setup? Does this go for hatchlings too?

I wouldn't suggest satanic leaf geckos in a rack either. It's easier to keep them cool in a glass tanks.
