help! please!
ok im new to the gecko world, dont really know much about them either, but today i went to the pet store and was about to buy a corn snake when i saw a tokay..........i liked the tokay so i bought it instead, bad part is, halfway home i realized i dont know a thing about him! know he needs moisture and all that but any info would be appreciated

Before you even get an animal...research, research and research and then do some more research after that. Read care sheets, buy books do whatever you can to know everything about taking care of animal before purchasing one.
Just type in 'Tokay Gecko Care' in google and you'll get a wealth of information about them.

Tokays have a reputation for being really, really nasty geckos... In my personal experience, being bit by an adult feels like slamming your finger in a door ... hard.
I'm with Jon, not researching can be harmful to the animal, and sucks.
But, you got it anyway... Google is great, type what was said above and you'll get a ton of caresheets.

As mentioned, and as I am sure you now know, it is crucial for the sake of the animal to do your research prior to making a purchase, in addition to having an appropriate enclosure pre-setup.
Firstly, they are an aboreal species who, as suggested, require a tall cage rather then a wide one. I would recommend at least a 20 gallon tall for a single tokay gecko. Although some people keep theirs at room temperature, I like to offer a basking spot of 85-90° F. Being a tropical rainforest species, a high humidity of 70% to 90% is preferred, this can be achieved by misting twice daily. They are insectivorious and will eat pretty much any insect of appropriate size. Those are just the basics, and I encourage you to do more research.

i know i messed up with that but it was kinda sad, the day before my friend mikey bought an iguana from the same store and the next day i went in and the tokay was in the same cage, with the iguana food still in it and it was dry as crap, no i <even not knowing about geckos, know that tokays need moisture and the cage was dry as a bone, not even clean there was still iguana poo all over the place..........now was i wrong to get the poor evil thing?

ha ha ha, Good luck with the little hell spawn, The only plus side is they are very hearty lizards, so if your new to the hobby it will tolerate mistakes more so then some other species, On the down side they are mean and hell lol. I personally kept a few. One actually died after biting so hard that it broke its own jaw (can’t say I felt bad for it). Nice to look at though.

well im not new to the herp world but i am new to the gecko world, after watching mine i think hes pretty cool, im looking up some info now for a leo and im planning on getting one on the 30th at the reptile expo in raleigh

Okay not to crap on anyones parade but to say that Tokays are evil is just stupid. For one in nine years I have not had one out of the hundreds of Tokays I have worked with ever turn and attack me while I had my hand in the cage cleaning, changing water, etc. It is only when you provoke a Tokay that they will act hostile towards you. Tokays are naturally very shy and the little hell raisers inexperienced people make them out to be.

calcarifer, i agree that it is rediculous to characterize any animal as "evil", but my tokays gaped at people watching them through glass. tokays are still wonderful little fellas, imo. they can be very beautiful, and they have really interesting breeding behavior. just not for touching, lol. so monitor12345, you will do great with your tokay as long as you consider it like a fish, just to look at. dont have any illusions about taming an adult, many have tried and failed. as for care, its pretty basic: verticle enclosure with wall hides (you can make them by leaning a piece of bark against the wall), misting twice a day (important since they usually wont drink standing water), calcium dusted crickets for food.
