Unhappy help

I took my bp out last night and noticed that her skin midway down on her underside looks really weird. The rest of her looks great. But this one area looks almost like a burn-----she's in a rubbermaid that sits on a human heating pad--on one side. The temps are 90-95 on the hot side......I will post a picture later. I think I should take her to the vet.

any ideas?

Is that the temp of the rubbermaid directly over the UTH or is that ambient air? If your air temp is 90 - 95 most likely the temp of the surface she is sitting on is higher probably over 100. I prefer a temp gun for checking my temps, lets me know exactly what temp my animals are sitting on. Probe one works pretty good too but not as fast as well different spots on the heat pad get to different temps, there is a coil inside it. Also check the temp under the hot side hide, could be much hotter in there.

...it's not the ambient air temp---that's the temp right above the heating pad. I have a temperature controller set to 93 that's supposed to keep the heat pad at just that.

thanks.

hard for anyone of us to tell you what it is without a pic. Like nita said, themp inside your hide on the hot side might be much higher than that. If it is a burn polyspourn works good, but let some of the seasoned keepers answer before you do anythoing.
