grain mites

In my reptile room is an aquarium that I keep my crickets in. I feed the crickets chick mash, that usually is contaminated with grain mites that are common in any animal feed supply depot.

I noticed one of my balls soaking for a few days and naturally became suspicious. I examined the ball and did find some grain mites walking on him. They are white and look like a spec of flour; after researching them I learned that they are only interested in grains, cereals, etc.. Do you think they are bothering the ball or is he just soaking because of a shed coming on? He's been in his bowl for 2 days now.
Thanks for your insight,
Paul.
