Hey guys. I finally got my leopard gecko from Neil Meister 1.5 weeks ago. He's gorgeous. I have decided to call him Pixel.

Pixel has been very shy. When I reach my hand into the tank he looks like he's either extremely nervous and curious at the same time, or that he's going to strike at me.

I was vicously bitten by a couple of gerbils almost 3 weeks ago and was ripped up pretty badly so now i'm afraid of anything biting me. Since I got my leo i've only had him out once.

I want to know how I can get him to not be afraid of me. Will he actually strike at me and bite?

Thanks.

he may but it doesnt hurt.. in most cases doesnt even draw blood.. and its never happened to me.. you may be scarin him because your commin from above.. so if you start on the other side of the cage and put your hand down flat and inch it towards him he might be fine..

thats about all i can suggest cause ive never had a prob holding my leos.. some like it more than others...

Let him get use to you, just by putting your hand in the cage is enough. One of my leopard geckos would automatically try to bite me if I got close to her, she acheived her goal a couple of times, but it doesn't hurt at all. Don't be discouraged if they don't become nice right away, they usually grow out of it in a few months. Mine is a sweet heart now, I can pick her up without any problems.

Pixel shed today for the first time. Might have been part of the reason why he was so edgy...

I'm hoping. He definately took a lunge at me today though. I really hope he gets over that. I feel horrible that i'm afraid of him but that makes me really jumpy.

OK that was quite rude and uncalled for. You have no idea what I went through that has made me so nervous about being bitten.

You don't know me, so don't judge me that way. Back off!

Tango he should get better with time.I found one of the leos we have was just like that and what we did was just lay your hand in there a couple times a day and he should get use to your smell
That way he cant grab anything on ya lol.I am still the same way with some of my snakes so DONT feel bad it should pass

snakers55 I think I speek for EVERYONE here when I say we do NOT need coments like that here and there is NO need for you to be rude.
