Cool Amazon the Iglet's "winter colors"

My baby is growing up, slowly, and losing his (or her) baby blues. Getting nice and cool and icy looking just in time for winter.

This is how Amazon looked on June 12, the day s/he came home with me. This photo doesn't do justice to the turquoise and teal shades on that sweet baby face, though. You'll just have to take my word for it.

How old is she? I have 2 yr old iguanas which are still bright neon green like that. Are you sure its not a sign of something else?

No clear idea of the age since this was a rescue baby, but this iglet is probably quite young, around 6-9 months. Healthier than can be expected. This baby was stuffed in a 1 1/2 gallon hex plastic fishtank and has fused vertebrae at the base of the tail from being literally crammed in there.

I think the loss of the blue is just the normal acquiring of yellow and other pigments as this little pickle of mine gets older.

Oh....duh!....I thought you said she was losing her green color! LOL. Yeah the blue never stays long enough but adults still keep it a bit sometimes. You have to put her in the sun and stare at her in admiration for a little while then you will start to see all the gems of color she has hidden in her.

I'll trade that blue in for the gorgeous oranges starting to appear around the nuchal crest, shoulders, and hips. The blue does come out when Amazon is fired up or nicely warm and happy but it's not as intense as it used to be.
