Some thoughts.

I would like to thank all that supported Helena, she was very hurt about the thread, and all of you helped her out. The reason we are in this hobby is to help each other not to put each other down. We do not need this type of negative people to hinder and slow down our hobby. After reading the thread from King this morning I felt like giving up on people, I was going to reply but choose to wait til Helena veiwed it, since it was about her. Trust me I was MAD. I had a few words for him, but I would have put myself to his level and got my post deleted too. Anyways I'm a true believer of Action speaks louder than words. I got in this hobby because I enjoyed it, but ever since I started my business( GenerAsian Exotics) I have enjoyed it less each day. It is really hard to please everyone, but we try our best. Why did I get in to this hobby? Not to be a millionaire!!! believe me I do not need the money. To be an expert!!! I'm far from an expert. I'd rather sit back and listen to what other have to say and learn from it, and I've learned alot over the years. I'm here to enjoy what I've loved since I was a kid and to share it. I do not think anyone of us would be here if we did not enjoy it, there's easier hobbies out there. As for the ones making a living with the hobby, They still have to enjoy it. It's not as easy as it looks, there's easier ways to make money. As for me, I've been fortunate to have the resources I have and because of that I'm able to have my collection of animals. That does not make me better than the other guy. This hobby is not about who has the most expensive or rare animal. It's about the passion and the love we have for our animals, no matter what animal it is. We must be committed to our hobby and make it stronger by FIRST learning and then educating others. It's no good sharing with others when you haven't taken the time to learn it first. Then we can open the minds of ignorant people to our hobby, people are ignorant because they don't know better and they fear what they don't know. I feel it's up to us, all of us, to open their minds to this wonderful hobby. Sorry about the RANT, but my point is, let's get rid of the negativity by being educated, by learning then growing.
As for Mr. KING I really hope to see you tomorrow, I will not tolerate ANYONE putting my friends, especially my girlfriend down. You didn't stop with one insult, but kept going and going. I demand that you post a public apology to all the members, for you negative thread, and Email Helena with a personal apology for hurting her feelings.
Thank you for taking the time to read this post and my thoughts, and I'm deeply grateful for the Administators( Jeff, Shane, and of course my buddy Grant)

Kahane,

Welcome to the hobby! I missed the tread but it was probably just the same old bashing by someone jealous of people in the hobby with more animals than they have. Personally speaking I don't really care what your motives are for keeping reptiles. As long as they are kept healthy and clean then your motives shouldn't matter. Lets face it, if one cannot atleast have their "hobby" pay for its self then one could not sustain a large collection.

I know I sometimes don't take my own advice but try and not let the low lifes get to you. Just keep on doing what you love.

P.S. Just a word of caution. If you are going to beat the crap out of someone I don't really think it's a good idea to advertise it all over a public forum. Not only is it bad for business it doesn't look good when the guy a) gets the crap kicked out of him and/or b) when the guy calls the cops for making threats. I wouldn't be surprised if this thread got removed because of it.

Yeah I agree the dude was a bit over the top. (Are you sure you guys don't know him? It sounded like he was going on and on and it was a bit much. Almost like he knew you guys and was just trying to start stuff. I mean, no one freaks out about a dog THAT much do they? I found it weird).

Anywho, that's besides the point. No one will take this guy seriously, and for obvious reasons. But by putting stuff in writing here about giving him a trip to Fatlipsville, that might be asking for legal trouble and his face might not be the only thing getting a black eye. Right? Although, I'd be pissed too. If it was my girl, I'd be getting his IP the second I read the post. But just think before you do anything. I mean, if they put you in the clink, who am I going to breed Green tree monitors with man!

Take it easy, and if you give the guy a working over, just don't put the threat in writing!

from what i know of Helena (which, granted, is not much) she seems like a sweet and kind person and doesn't not deserve to have someone be mean to her.
I wish her much support in this.

I catch up on all the weekend threads...as I do every Monday morning...I missed what happened but I get the gist of it....

I'm glad that things seemed to have worked out for you, KaHane & Helena...you have been nothing but friendly and helpful on this site. It's nice to see this community stand up for itself when the odd jerk wonders in. We must give credit to the admin. of this site for maintaining a community that welcomes people from all over while weeding out those who are just around to cause trouble.

KaHane, im answering this kinda late....i read the original post that you are refering to, and i dont blame you for being mad. I would re-act the same way. No one messes with friends and family. You two have always been great supporters of the site, and on Sunday i thought that the donation that the two of you made to Jeff for his adaptive son was fantastic!

I have to admit that when i started on this site, i was not into snakes or reptiles in general for that matter at all. Actually i was terrified of snakes...but am now slowly getting better. I have to admit that all of the dedication and hard work by people here have made me feel so at home. I consider everyone a friend and i will not stand by and let ppl attack my friends. I thank you for the great picture you let me take at the show and i will have it up in a day or two. In the meantime i am still researching for an animal that is right for me...and with the support of all here i have found it so much easier. And i have to say that meeting all of the members has been a great experience. I have been fortunate enough to view some ppl's collection, like Corey Woods and Joe & Melissa's to name a few, and this i felt was wonderful, and these ppl were very kind to me explaing things etc. So to all of the members here....lets all get along, this is a family here...the more i meet all of you...the more i strive to continue to help out making this the best site on earth....i think we are close...cheers to you all , Shane

Thanks Shane, Jeff and you have been great to us and we will always support this site. We feel privilaged that you asked us to take a picture! and will lend a hand anytime you guys need help, so we all could make the site stronger. It would have been great if we got there earlier, so we could speak more. Actually Helena's the talking one, I'm always the quiet one and has nothing to say
