herp help

I Plan on doing some first time field herping this summer. I am going to southern ohio close to west virgina. I have never gone before and I am not sure what to look for a signs of herps and what all kinds I may encounter. Any helpful hints or tips would be greatly appreciated. Just what kind of habitats to look for.

here's a pretty good link to some snakes in Ohio. I live in Ohio and have seen tons of Northern water snakes ( very cool fat snakes), black rat snakes, garters and milk snakes. There are also poisonous snakes in the area you will be... northern copperheads, eastern massasauga and timber rattlesnakes.
