probiotics

hi guys

ive read a couple of articles that say you should add probiotics to the water to keep royals healthy. apparently they eat snake poo in the wild and this creates good bacteria for them to aid digestion and keep them hungry etc. do any of you guys do this?

Nope. And I REALLY doubt they eat snake poo in the wild. In fact, I'd bet you $100 they don't and wouldn't.

if you want probiotics to get into your ball python, you would have to raise your own feeders on a mixture of lab diet for rats and dog food that has only chicken protein and contains probiotics, and hope that some of this benifit transfers to the snake from the food. Garbage in, garbage out but gold in..... i dunno, golden poo? lol

in my opinion, there is nothing wrong with adding pro-biotics to the snake's diet.. pro-biotics are very useful for humans and animals, and it should help somewhat.. is it necessary? I doubt it very much..

I would strongly recommend pro-biotics for any snake that has gone under anti-biotic treatments however... anti-biotics kill/reduce good bacteria in the digestive/intestinal track and pro-biotics will certainly be of benefit to the animal...

Anyways, just my thoughts...
