First Aid Kits...

Hey guys...

I was wondering what everyone has in their first aid kits (if you have them?) I posted this here because I haven't really needed to break mine out for the snakes so much as the lizards...

Mine consists of polysporin, emeraid powder, fungal cream, liquid calcium, tweezers, my herp veterinarian's business card and nix (thats the only item I have in it for the snakes exclusively.) It's not huge, it's just precautionary stuff, not so much for emergencies. I'm curious... can anyone share what's in their kits and offer some suggestions for the perfect herp first aid kit?

What is emeraid powder? And what do you use the fungal cream for?

Another Ottawa herper!

Emeraid powder is a really great vitamin supplement, I believe you can only get it from a vet (not 100% sure on that, however). Mine is left over from a vet visit for my crested gecko when he had MBD, and the fungal cream is also a prescription left over from my chameleons' bout with fungus a while back.

Well, I don't exactly have a kit, per se, but I've used polysporin on my herps before. And I always have handy some snake bags and plastic sweater boxes for transporting the gang to the vets or whatever.

I have polisporin, tweezers and some others, i mainly use the tweezers.

I've tried the liquid Band-Aid stuff. Can't really comment on my single experience, but, the wound did heal....

I keep two slate tiles with a UTH sandwiched in between handy, (attached to a slide dimmer) just incase the gecko needs to stay and go into the OR. I also loan the vet my spot gun... cause the dang OR is like..16C or some such.....
But, by far, the item i reach most often for (not necessarily First Aid) is a pair of magnifying eye glasses from the drug store. The strongest ones.... leaves hands free for dealing with stuck shed on toes, noses, and candling fresh eggs

Watch me freak if they are missing! I did apply a tape stitch to an egg I dropped once. Baby hatched too... called her "Miracle", her bands were clearly severed.

I keep a box of supplies in the reptile room.

I have some panolog cream for wounds (from the vet) as well as some grapefruit seed extract, nix, and xylocane gel.

I also has my probe set, ky jelly, alcolhol swabs, my two sets of tongs and some other stuff.

Woah, I have never heard of this, can you explain what happened and what you did? Was the egg actually cracked??

In mine I keep polysporin eye/ear drops, syringes, liquid UV drops, baytril pills, bandaids, tweezers, scissors, 2 different utensil I use for opening reptiles mouths, my digital scale, Q-tips, a log book, turtle eye drops,polysporin, rid-rot, betadyne, hydrogen peroxide,panacur, vinyl gloves, flagyl, and a bunch of accumulated over time (calcium supplements, cricket water, worm guard, and a few other bottles of this and that)..

Should add that I also keep a few of those hand-warming packets handy for travel as well. (I keep uros, and they need HEAT!)

I don't really have an actual kit, but some of the health-related items found throughout my room include Eqyss antifungal/bacterial shampoo and spray, antifungal cream, antibiotic ointments, syringes and needles, tubing, vitamin and calcium supplements, fenbendazole, cuticle scissors, tweezers, tongs, large scissors, cotton swabs, betadine, ky jelly, alcohol, peroxide, chlorhexidine rinse, latex gloves, temp gun, small scrub brushes and toothbrushes, etc.
