Hi everyone,
Im sure some of you have noticed how I often mention stuff about bloods being fat. I exchanged some emails with Dave Barker(at VPI, they breed more bloods yearly than everyone else combined. Well maybe not, but, I would consider them the almighty blood gods, lol) about this issue. I have also been looking at pitures of some of these snakes and the body shape, and how they relate to different parts of their body. Just one of those little things that is constantly churning in the back of my mind. Anyways, the following is some "evidance" to give some warrant to what I am talking about

I belive that was posted a few years ago. Here is a portion about her in our email(Just before breeding season in november):
"We have one red female, now 10 years old, who is 7’2” and weighs about 25 pounds, maybe 30 at this time of the year."
Here is another statement by Mr. Barker:
"I’d say that about 95% of the adult blood python in pictures I’ve seen on the Internet are too fat, most are way too fat."
They also do not feed their blood pythons alot. This makes sense to me because in nature, these guys are very relaxed, they just sit in place most of the time. Rarely moving, except for find a new "waiting" spot for food(they will sit around for a long time, just waiting for food to happen by). Or they also move after they have eaten something, obviously to thermoregulate. So they dont eat much in nature either.
They said alot more but this is the base. Most of their breeding females are not very large either, only in the teens(lower teens).
Anyways, this is just to clarrify the weight issue in blood pythons that I have mentioned many times.
