Question Stupid Question

OK, I have a stupid question, what makes a corn a "motley"? Is it the lack of consistent patterns in their saddles? Sorry, but this one has been bugging me, so I figured I'd ask.

Thanks,

Mike

The belly of the motley does not have a checker board pattern but is all white. Also some of the saddles are joined and the spaces between them become dots.

the hurricane pattern is a motley with a distinct circle in the saddle color, this two tone saddle gives a secondary ring look around the spot of background color. Motley is a connected pattern that results in loss or reduction of ventral pattern, in many cases the side pattern becomes a line. A bullseye motley would have very round background spots showing. Motley in a normal colored animal may also give a reduced black impression similar to hypo.

How about a pic of a normal and motley together?

The Charcoal is 'normal' thogh some of his saddles are abberantly shaped, the orange snake is a normal motley female. The female isn't the fullest motley but as you can see where their necks meet and down the pattern some of the difference.
