Hatchling GTP enclosure size?

Just wondering, if I do find a GTP hatchling at the upcoming PC show, what would the ideal size of enclosure be. where should I place the heatpad (side or bottom I've heard both)?

actually I was thinking about making one or having one made (plastic caging) would a 16wx12hx12d be good for a hatchling, with a heat pad on the side so to create a horizontal temp gradient? or should I go a bit bigger. I don't want to stress the animal out with a cage too big though!

I use a small rubbermaid tub. Pretty much the same set up described on Greg maxwell's site. If you don't already have his book, get it. It has all the info you need to get started. Make sure you set up your enclosure a week before you get your GTP. That way you can work out any kinks ie. temps.
