Crickets and Mice are a widely accepted diet and have worked for many keepers including myself. I would however have to disagree and say that they are not an IDEAL diet.

A WIDE variety of insects (dusted) as well as the occasional eggs would be my choice for an ideal Juvie Sav. diet.

I'd say an ideal diet would be crickets/roaches 4 days a week, mice 1 day a week and raw ground turkey 1 day a week...

When offing mice to Monitors, do you dangle them like with snakes or are they best placed in the cage? I'm speaking of f/t of course.

So far, for the first year of life I have fed my savvy at the least 20-30 crickets a day sometimes more and 1 or 2 fuzzy mice every other day.

As for dangling the mice, I just just lay them on his basking spot and close the cage. Your savvy will find it, I'm sure of it.
