S-hooks

one in each corner and one on each long side should be fine unless you have a very large sterilite.

Tape + Snakes = Disaster waiting to happen.

Trust me, you don't wanna have to deal with a snake getting all caught up in tape it's not pretty, and if you don't catch them right away quite possibly fatal for your snake.

i had some masking tape in a kingsnake enclosure on a hide and part of it somehow came loose and of course my snake ended up stuck to it. luckily i noticed almost immediately, but he got himself a little bit wrapped up in it. came off rather easily with some vegetable oil and lost a couple scales. could have been alot worse but never should have happened.
s hooks are the best option but bricks or liquor bottles with water in them will suffice till you get some.

It looks like this

Drill a hole both threw the lid and the rubbermaid.

Tape is very bad, I'd get rid of it ASAP, use bungee cords or a bunch of bricks or a bunch of heavy books to keep the lid down, anything besides tape.

The part that is inside is the rounded back of the S, look carefully... No danger there

Basically, the hole for the S hook is drilled into the lip of the tub. The only part of hook inside the enclosure looks like ).

I used bungee straps around the outside before i had a rack and that worked well too. If your snake got half out of the enclosure and the tape is on the outside he can still end up sticking to the tape. Not to mention having to retape everytime you feed or take him out.
