My story/ decision
Yesterday while i was feeding my red tail boa (a live mouse) only for the fact he is very agressive towards prey. My sister and myself put the mouse in and watched..... He stiked but missed, then 2nd try he got it. He likes to know i am watching so he was looking at me threw the glass, as i looked back I had noticed dirt or something under neith his eye. I took a light and put it on him and noticed it was blood. I was worried he was hurt but he continued to eat so i jus watched and then it faded and i realized there was no scar, It was the mouses blood. I was so worried when i saw the blood i decided i would feed him only frozen and thawed. Seeing he will eat it and I should do it soon or else he will not switch. I will post how it goes next feed with frozen and thawed.

Feeding frozen thawed is one of the best decisions you can make when it comes to ur snake(s). There is absoluterly no risk or downfall. U can also buy in bulk and store in freezer. Good luck!

Good for you. Feeding f/t is beneficial for you and the snake as like carlito said you can buy in bulk, dont have to feed them, and keep your snake out of harms way. Good choice!

Good choice Tanya  ,
Nicky and me checked out floyd at lunch today and the blood must of been from the mouse because we couldn;t find any cuts. Best of luck switching him, if ya need any help you know who to call.

if your not feeding frozen/ thawed, you own your animal for all the wrong reasons...from the very first feed, it should be attempted...
that`s the difference between novice and...well...

T-boid, you must realize that no one is as perfect and without mistakes as you appear to be or nearly as knowledgeable when they first start out in this hobby. I'm sure when you first became interested in snakes, you knew about f/t right off the bat...this isn't the case with everyone. The high and mighty "I'm a pro" attitude you appear to have is not going to be well received here... we're ALL learning.
Sometimes we have to take a step back and realize that we all started out as 'novices' once...

HAHAHH ok MR.PRO....
So in all your 20 years of keeping or breeding snakes they have always ate f/t from the beggining??? Yeah right.
And what would you do if one would'nt ever take f/t? Throw it in the freezer?

My frist kingsnake got bit by it's mouce one day. It bled 4-5 drops and i freaked out so much that i'm feeding F/T and will never come back. You get to feed F/T when you care more about your animal than you care about ''natural or cool aspects of the live feeding thing''.

ya i am having a hard time feeding f/t
my young boa will not eat f/t
i have wasted about 5 mice this week
and now she isnt on feeding schedule
so i fed a live mouse and she ate
i dont want to leave f/t more than a few
hours correct?
i dont know what to do?

oh ya and she only eats white mice with
red eyes only
she is finiky i guess
so i feed her LIVE WHITE MICE W/RED EYES
or she will starve i guess

My snakes tend to do that to but my boa if he is hungry he will eat anything...... I fed my fish f/t last friday and the pet story only had black ones so i tryed it and my snake didnt know it was food and it dropped out of the feeding tongs so i went to get it and my snake attacked the tongs instead... Thanks to Kayla she helped me feed him and it worked hopfully i can start on white mice again... my mom thinks they are uglier....

Is there any research or scientific fact to back up what you guys are talking about? I would think snakes would find their food by its' scent, not what colour it is...
Though I've often wondered if the brown ones taste different than the white ones...
