flaking leos

hey i have a few loes that im having problems with dry flaking skin, there breeding fine for me but i just want to touch them up on appereance and for there own sake. they mostly eat gut loaded crikkets and mael worms and get plenty of underbody heat and light, and ive been spraying them alot lately. any one help me plz let me know

No need for the spraying, just give them a moist hide. You can use many things to keep the interior of the hide moist including, paper towel, cocoa brick, clean soil etc... just spray the interior of your moist hide every other day and you shouldn't have any more skin problems.

if you wanna touch them up on aperence.. gutload with some tropical fish flakes.. the colour enhancencing one.. never tried it but is supposedly works..

ya i use moist hides to with spagnum moss, it still doesnt help them out much

When you say "dry flaking skin" are you referring to retained shed? Or do they look like that all the time? A pic might be helpful if you can manage it.

Aside from that let's go through the usual battery of husbandry stuff

Temps, humidity, substrate, diet.....

If you want to get their weights up feed em some waxworms butterworms or silkworms. It should do the trick.

As for the skin? ...do you dust your crickets with calcium and have a dish of calcium in your tank?? I know the other day I put some fresh calcium in and one female chomped down a bunch right away LOL guess the calcium smelt really good and fresh

Like Slannesh said, a picture would help a lot to see just what you mean by flaking skin. Off hand, without knowing more info, it might be Vit A deficiency. Lack of Vit A can lead to rough dry and flaking skin, poor shed and a host of other problems. One common cause of deficiency is excess calcium, so you might want to check into that, see if it might be on the right track (calcium sand and dusting food with Ca could be one clue).

Not sure your supposed to spray leos are you? Petstore said it can kill them, and besides to much moisture in the enclosure can lead to skin problems, i'd just stop spraying.

Spraying them with water will not kill them. Stress can, but stress can be caused from a number of things. You can mist leos but you don't need to unless they are babies.
