Wink escaped... ( yes it is the right forum)

you hear of cresties and corns and leos and every other herp getting out of there enclosure... and now i realise EVERY herp can get out...

well io wake up this mornin around 10:45 and i go to my cham cage to give him a mist... to realise that i left the bottom latch open.. no biggie right, it only leaves about an 1/2" to escape and its right on the bottom.. so i start looking.. i cant see him.. but there is no way out, the bottom is covered so he wouldnt even be able to get to that open part... so i mist and walk up stairs to ask my mom for some help.. after 15 min.... THERES NO CHAM... omg omg omg.. with all the stuff in my room he could be anywhere.. so im looking high and my mom ( doesnt know much about them) is looking on the ground.. sure enough she calls me.. he was trying to climb my blke in my closet but the tbues are to big and slipery.. so i get him back into his cage.. and give him a nice mist..

the only way he could have gotten where he was was to walk on the groung.. and thats kinda bothersome.. but he wasnt hurt wasnt too stressed and actually seemed eager to get back into his home.. but he must have been cold.. its prob only about 65 on the ground and even colder in my closet..

well thats my story and a new species to add the the escaped list...

p.s. that is my first escaped herp.. and hopefully no more to do the same...

Scared ya, didn't he? I bet he's happy he gave your heart a good workout

I had a female jacksons escape on me once, back in '99, so I know it's possible. I have absolutely no idea how she got out, I didn't leave the cage doors open, and there are no holes anywhere for her to have crawled out. Unless she somehow jumped out when I had the doors open to clean the cage, then she got beamed out by Scotty. There are two doors, one above the other, and I only had the bottom half open to clean the floor. The cage is over 6 feet tall, and I know she was at the top of the ficus when I opened the bottom door. Beats me how she got out without me seeing it. Not only did she get out of the cage, but she got out of the herp room. That door is always closed, I never leave it open. I found her in the other side of the basement, sitting on the concrete floor watching the rock tumbler go round and round and round. If she got out while i was cleaning the cage, then she had about 12 hours of freedom to explore.
To this day I have no clue how she got out, but I'm glad I found her when I did, she looked like she was going to climb on the rotating drum of the tumbler! (if it moves it must be food? )

well he got out once before during cleaning.. but only like on the top of the cage.. he was more stressed out then than he was today.. im just glad he could not grab onto the bike to climb.. he would hace goten into my clothes and then maybe on top.. and im dreaded having to look up there.. there is ALOT of stuff..

i was shaking fopr about an hour afterwards. for me findiing him is one thing.. getting him is another.. he does NOT tolerate even the littlest handleing.. so out comes the ling stick.. .lol

My roomates cham escaped once. He got out of his cage, then out a crack in the screen. He was up on our roof for four days before a neighbor spotted him.

I can't believe he survived as this was middle summer and the roof is insane hot. He was thirsty when I brought him inside, but that's about it.
