Ready to roll...

Well it looks like I should have two clutches of carpet eggs in the next few weeks. I have my incubator set up and can't wait to use it. I was lucky to have a friend give me some bearded dragon eggs to test it out and it worked great!

Last year I used the no substrate method and had good results but for the beardie eggs I used damp vermiculite so they wouldn't drown. I noticed that for some reason the tub with vermiculite had less condensation than the tub with the same height of water. So this year I will use vermiculite with egg crate on top. This way the eggs are still not touching any substrate, I don't have to worry about drowning, and there will be less condensation.

This pic shows the difference in condensation between the two methods...

I built this with the help of Ssnakess.com and its members(Favelle, Stockwell, Mikey, Scales Zoo, etc). There is a ton of info on this website about incubators and everyone has there own method and style. I like to take what I like from each persons design and throw it all together.

Thanks Jeff! I can't wait to see python eggs in it. One female had her prelay shed last Saturday and the other one looks like she will shed any day now so they will be a about a week apart.
