Venomous snake keeping,

Not that i want to keep venomous snakes or
anything but we need to get this strait.
Keeping venomous snakes in canada is NOT
illegal. It has to do with your munisipality.(sp)
In ontario it is legal to keep venomous snakes
but in GTA it isn't. Some provinces do not allow
the keeping of venomous snakes at all, so far
i have not heard this law in ontario, and haven't
seen any paperwork to see proof.

Please correct me if I'm wrong.:grab:

Thats partially true.
In GTA the bylaw says
No snakes over 3 meters, which is about 9 ft
and no lizards over 1 meter, about 3 ft
You can't even keep iguanas or larger monitors.
If you live further south in Brantford ontario
you can keep any size colubrid, for example
Tiger rat snake, but you can't keep a sand boa.
Their bylaw says no boas or pythons. Also you
can't keep monitors or crocs, obviously crocs, but
ackies? Ackies are way less dangerous than alot
of iguanas.

I was under the impression that it is legal to keep venemous snakes but there is requirements. You need to have so many hours work ( volunteer or paid ) in a facility that keeps venemous legally, be able to show the ministry proper housing conditions and also be able to cover the costs of antivenom of that particular species. As well I am quite sure a responsible owner would have some kind of insurance as well.
This is what knowledge I have.

Christina Your right.... I will not help anyone find how to keep them (with licence) nor anyone who has one will too because we had to spend a lot of time and money show (this people that we could do this safely without getting kill or anyone around them) This licence is many for insurance (ie... getting bite or someone else does it will save you a big law suit) I know many people in canada that do have these licence (even in GTA, Ottawa and many more) There is a put you can get them and it is a Canadian GOV. Office If you look you will find the Guy that can help you.
I had to get one for the Zoo I run here. That is why I know about this...

PS.. That pet store there who sell hot to little kids and nut cases to make a buck will tell you something else.
