mice and rats in close quaters..

I plan on keeping some mice and rats in a closet type set up for the winter season. I did this last year with just mice and it worked great. I am concerned about the effects that they will have on each other? Has anyone ever experienced problems keeping mice and rats in the same area? Thanks for reading this and also for your potential responses.

Just dont keep them in the same cage or a cage they can reach each other in, rats eat mice. I've seen rats kill and drag mice through cages. Other then that their scents wont mater to each other.

Thanks. I was afraid the smells would set each other off.

Nope mine do just fine, just dont give them access to each other. Mine are less then a few inches away from each other.

Its not like snakes where the scent will trigger a feeding response, I've seen rats play nice with mice before actually, unless the mouse attacks them.
