I have a 3 year old male chinese waterdragon.
He always has been in excellent shape and health.
Recently, he somehow broke his leg jumping around in his cage.
We were able to sacrifice the $260 to take him to a vet and get the leg splinted, but the leg became infected.
We brought him back to the vet, but now the vet is on holiday but the sub gave us antibiotics.
The swelling from the infection tightened his splint so badly, that all of his toes have died.
He now needs amputation of the toes and needs some serious intervention to keep the infection under control.
In 11 months our family will depart for Belize to be part of a missionary to build housing for a developing village. We have no money, my husband was laid off for the winter.
We need someone to take in Loki, get him the medical care he needs and to provide him a loving home.
We have called the Edmonton, Calgary and Alberta Reptile societies. We have called the spca and the aspca. We have called the edmonton valley zoo and the calgary zoo. We have called the reptile zoo in drumheller, and the underground zoo in west ed. mall. No one can help.
Please be the one to give Loki a chance.
It absolutly breaks my heart that we may have to euthanize a perfectly fine dragon just because we have no other options. We have no more $ and no more ideas.
We are in Edmonton.
