1st leo of 2005

It only took 46 days for this gaffer to hatch

Dad is a tangerine SHBCT and mom is a SHBCT. I can't wait for the clutchmate to hatch.
(Just excuse the ceramic soil incubation media that's still stuck to him in the pictures).

Congrats Hilde What, pray tell, is stuck ontop of his head? I was thinking a water drop from condensation... but with his movement in several pics, i thought it would have been gone...?

Thanks everyone
I'm tickled pink that they're hatching again. As nice as it is to unplug the incubator in the fall, I have to admit I miss having babies pop out every so often.

It's water, a drop from the deli cup lid fell on him when I opened it up. The picture session only took about a minute or two, so it didn't have a chance to evaporate. Kind of looks like he's got a deformed head, but it's an optical illusion.

Looks like he's taken after the dogs already, doesn't it?

The other egg hatched sometime during the night
Both leos look so similar, I'm going to have a great time telling them apart.

These were taken with my new digital, Olympus C-740 Ultra Zoom. I haven't figured it all out yet, still experimenting to see what does what. It's got a macro down to 1.2 inches/3.1 cm. I still have to get a tripod before I use the fancy stuff, the closeups and zoom really magnify any shaking and jiggling.
