Beardie not to active lately

Hi all. I have a 9 month old BD and the day after Christmas he started to be less active and eat less. He still seems to be very alert but stays in one spot (cool)and eats very little. I figure that it is just the winter dormant thing that I was told adults go through but I am not sure. Is he an adult? He doesn't "poop" much but when he does it looks to be normal. I hand fed him the other day(greens) and he ate some. He looks good just looking for some comments to reassure me or send up a flag.

Thanks!!

Was he eating and defecating before you noticed a change in behaviour? Mine are going thru the same thing. I decrease their daylight to 10 hours/day in the fall. I'm increasing it to 14 hours/day now. They eat very little and are lethargic. Offer food and water daily and make sure your temps. are adequate.

Paul.

Also if you have no night light in the cage I noticed mine slow down alot during the winter because how cold it got in there lower 60's hih 50's so I added a night lite and they seem to be much more active, neither of them lost their appetite however, both still pigs.

9 mo old is a bit young for brumation but not unheard of. Keep the lights and heat up and make sure there is food and water when he's a wake.

for more info on brumation try here
