Males can breed at 18 months. Females at 2.5 years. With the females size is more important than age. The min. size should be 6 ft. and 10 lbs. The sizes are for common red tails and not true red tails.
I would have to disagree to a point Bryan. Yes males can breed at 18 months but it's not always 100% that they will. Some males may be large enough at that age but still show no interested in breeding.
With females however age is as important as size IMO. A two and a half year old female could breed but many have found it better to give females the extra year to gain suitable weight and muscle mass in order to properly carry the offspring.
So age and weight are both very important factors in breeding BCI but just because an animal is large enough doesn't by any means make it ok to breed it. Boas are not like Balls that can reproduce at a much younger age.
BCC are very similar with the exception that both males and females need t he additional year to be of sufficient age and size to properly breed them. IMO... This way you couldn’t go wrong.
