Heat Tape??

Is it alright to put heat tape on plywood??Will it burn?

If you are using a thermostat and dimmer along with leaving sufficient air flow, no it cant burn any wood as far as im told

what i did was i got 2 pains of glas just a little bigger then the strip of heat tap i was using and put the heat tape between them leaving only anought to do my conections hanging out the end .... then you can move it and put it were you want
use electrical heat srink tubeing to seale the conections , if you do it right it makes a very good seal .... good luck with your projects

the heat tape itself will never get hot enough to burn wood, it is faulty wiring that causes fires...

No need to put the heat tape between panes of glass, it can be moved around as is on its own with no worries of having to heat through extra surfaces (requiring more energy). No heating element should be allowed to get hot enough to to damage anything, as it would surely injure or kill your herp. Heat tape can get extremely hot though (I've had it shoot up to over 140 degrees in 3 minutes with 100% unrestricted airflow (laying in the open, not under anything), so it needs to be controlled with a dimmer or thermostat :sun:
