i have an albino leopard gecko and i want to get a blizzard soon. i want to produce more albinos and blizzards, is that what i'll get if i breed them or do i have to breed albinos with albinos and blizzards with blizzards?

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I think that albino genes are highly incompatible with "blizzard" genes and therefore the very high cost of a "Blazing Blizzard" leopard gecko which is a rare successful product of these two genetic traits.

Not sure if you would get normal leos or dud eggs, but I would check the Leopard Gecko forum out for a more definitive answer. You may find the answer you're looking for if you type in "blazing blizzard" into the search function on that forum as well.

hope this helps a bit,

-Adam

i found it on prehistoric pets- it is a blizard and albino cross. i think i want to just go ahead and breed albinos and blizards and see if they happen to breed and make the beautiful blazing blizzard as well. thanks so much for your help.

I believe the odds of hatching a blazing are 1 in 10. I only read that somewhere. There's lots of gene charts floating around on this site and others, they're quite helpful.

it's technically 1 in 16.

But in practice it's more like 1 in 1000

To answer the question above if you breed an albino to a blizzard you'll get all normal looking babies that are het for albino and het for blizzard. It's not possible to get a Blazing Blizzard from an albino/blizz pairing right off.

If you want albinos breed your albino to another albino.. same for blizzards. They're both recessive traits. By the way, keep in mind there are three strains of albino in leos... Tremper, Rainwater/Las Vegas and Bell. They are all incompatible with each other, meaning that if you breed a Tremper albino to say a Bell albino you'll get normal looking babies that are het for both types of albino.

So if you breed the tremper to the rainwater and you get tremper/rainwater can those babies produce albino from either a tremper or rainwater?

if your breed a tremper to a rainwater you get all normals, het for both traits. if these double hets are bred together, they can produce either type of albino, or double albinos.
