Exclamation Reptiles and Dynomite-Questions

Hey everyone
I just found out that the city will be dynomiting DIRECTLY infront of my house. The inspectors came to video tape my house for any existing damages. I told them I breed reptiles and asked how serious the shakes from the blast would be. Moving out isn't an option right now. I will be having many eggs in the incubator soon and was wondering if people thought these vibrations and the shakes could kill the eggs. Also what effects could it have on my snakes and lizards? Currently everything is healthy and eating well. The blasting company said they aren't sure what to tell me. If anything bad happens to any of my herps I will be looking into a lawsuit.
Just wanted anyones input on this situation, similar experience, or tips on what I can do to minimize the stress on my herps and their eggs

Thanks
(blasting starts this week i think)
PS. Will be blasting atleast 6 times daily, for roughly 6 months

Around 9 months ago they blasted across the street from us, twice a week, 2 times a day. Our house was ruined to say the least. But the animals are fine. Although this is nothing compared ot how many times they are going to blast near your house, this blasting went out for only a month period. Best of luck, jason

Wow thats got to be rough on you guys, what are they blasting? I'm sure the noise might scares the reptiles but that's about all. They'd never be allowed to blast in my area because of the value of the houses but if they did I'd protest it to the death. Hope everything goes well with your reptiles though that's a sh!tty deal

the noise isn;t the problem. The blasting is basically on my front yard. No further then 100 feet from my door. The inspectors don't even know if my house(150 years old) will hold up. We're #1 on their concerned list. I really couldn't careless if the house falls apart long as my herps are ok(place is rented). Snakes don't hear...so noise doesn't bother me for that. The inspector said there would be HEAVY vibration since it is so close to my place.
Sucks cause they only told us today about all this and they start this week

Wow, that sucks. The only thing I can suggest is to call your councillor and ask if the company doing the blasting is using a
sequential for detonation. What this instrument does is detonate
each blasting cap individually in succession instead of all at once, which reduces the shock wave.
Most companies do not use it because it is very expensive. As long as the vibrations are within the City guidelines, most companies won't use it and aren't required to do so. Maybe put your incubators on some foam, this will reduce the shockwave a bit.

The vibration will carry in a solid substance better than through air..such as a cement floor...If you have your enclosures on the floor raise them by putting a 1"x2" under them, creating an air barrier. This will cut down on the vibration by over 80%....It really depends on how close the blast is also....the days that they blast close to your house, move your reptiles out that day/s...either way no use trying to fight them....you don't have as much money as they do.

so i guess moving them temperalry isnt really an option... do you have a basemant... if so you should see about moving them down there until the blasts are done... at least if anything did happen ( which i hope it wont) theyed be covered.. either that or see if you can put a temp stop to it because of not enough notice... they said they dont even know if your house will stand the blasts so shouldnt they give you at least some time to get everything moved...

I have to ask, what on earth are they blasting? A quarts vein under your sidewalk? 6 times a day for 6 months!!!!!! that should be about enough to flatten Hull in it's entirety.
