What to keep burmese in?

I know at adult size they can get huge, Keeping in 55 gallon till then would work right? Then do u need to get a bigger gallon tank or make ur own? Thanks

You'll need a bigger tank within the first 2 months. And theres no way you could even try to keep it in there any long.
You can't buy a tank for them, you gotta make it
Looks like the only snake experience you have is with balls...DON'T GET A BURM unless you have already handled one(at some1 elses house) and are really prepared for a 200LBS snakes

Make it a long and wide cage, height is not that important.
Experts say the cage should at least be half as long as the total lenght of the snake. Doesn't sound stupid to me.

Forget about tanks for these guys! You didn't Say if you had a berm or you're just thinking about it. These snakes truly get gigantic to the point were they can be dangerous. As they can be agressive also. My brother had 2 albinos that he was able to devote a small room in his house to. (the whole room! ) So if you can't give them an encloser, you will regret having one.

I'm not flaming at all....just see too many large snakes up for adoption or just dumped. Happens too often. Its nothing against you, hopefully you will give it a good home for its ENTIRE life, maybe you won't
Just hard not to have this attitude when people first want large snakes...especially when you only seem to have experience with balls(from your previous posts)

Well I had mine in a 40g long tank...that lasted not even 1 month
Mine was 1 foot when I got her...6 months later she was 6 feet jus tto give u an idea

my burm is only 3ft right now and still in the 40 breeder i bought when i first got her, if you was to get one, build a good size cage so he'll beable to stay there for awhile.....only reason why anyone would try to talk you out of having a burm is because of the size they get, get to big people soon realize its to big for their home, i know this for a fact i work at a pet store and have lots of people that come in wanting to get rid of their snakes, infact i got a awesome 2 1/2ft redtail boa in today guy just gave it to us said he couldnt take care of it and its all skin and bone to many people make to many mistakes

Start off as a small baby with a 50 gallon and after 2 months thinks of a 3wx18"x18" then after about 3 months if not soonder 4x2x2 then 6 months after 6x3x2 then after she hits 6-7 feet you need a cage 8x4x4 and that can hold a snake 12'-14' after that they need a room. This is how i do it may not be every ones way but thats how i do it and it works well from me. my months are just avarage it could be sooner or a little later but with in that. I will post a pic of a 8'x4'x4' when i can but i would say start with a boa or carpet python because a large snake even 7' can really mess you up and after 10' they can hurt if not kill you even if they may not mean it but a 15' foot monster aggresive snake is BAD news and is very very dangerous.

Just my 2 cent my mesurments and stuff are mine and i can only speak for me not anyone.

For a burm.. male of female...WOW they grow like weeds...when he hits 5-8 feet at 1-2 yrs old. U may want to consider a 250 Gallon tank or equilant to it... its a SUPER large tank and is Heaver than a horse !! And like some ppl suggest.. its OWN bedroom.. I also want a albino burm.... but im still not sure yet my BCI he's getting large about 5.5 feet and growing...in a 90 gal.. Im hoping he will top off at 7 feet.. i think thats about enough for me.. And Yes I have handles large burms many time...I know the weight and the strength of them..its a snake at 15 feet ( will do what ever it wants with or without u'r permission..) providing it gets loose...and if Power feed .." NOT A GOOD IDEA " it will bulk up quick... my friends was power feed its a Large burm... 10 foot female... and has a 9 inch girth to it...its got to be well over 120 lbs.. ( never weighted) just an est. .. it feed 1 small f/t rabbit every 2 weeks.... and even longer...it verys...

Just my lil 2.1/2 cents !!

Well this guy was just asking and doesnt know to much aout burms,, i know i was like that at one time now i own 2 burms 6 all pythons and 4 jcp and i built 4 new rooms in my house so i could keep my burms i would not sugest buying one untill you have at lest 7 years of herp keeping..

Try be more discriptive with your posts the first time around.

The way you posted it, sounded like you looking to get a burm. When someone mentions the large pythons and "tank and burm" are in the same sentence it sometimes sets off an alarm in people heads, especially when any person suggests aquariums. They were only trying to educate you, so you and the snake will be cofortable in the long run.

How did you get a burm at one foot? Correct me if i'm wrong, but aren't most burms bigger than that when they hatch?
