Biology Project
I discovered today (first day back to school) that my 4U biology ISU is due on Friday. My main topic is the evolution of Lampropeltinid (lampropeltis, pituophis, pantherophis, cemophora, rhinocheilus and the like) snakes as well as their relation to Old-World rats. I have all the natural history and species account that I could possibly need but am short on more evolution oriented info. I have the Utiger paper as well as Burbrink's corn paper. Is anyone here aware of any other good info pertaining to the topic?
Thanks
Cam

I haven't started writing yet... the due date snuck up on me.
Utiger's paper is hosted in Fry's website, www.vemondoc.com, but I can't find it at the moment.
Here is Burbrink's paper on corns
http://www.cnah.org/pdf_files/204.pdf
The later is hosted in the CNAH PDF library, a great resource for finding herp articals.

Here is Utiger's paper. http://www.venomdoc.com/downloads/Ut..._Phylogeny.pdf
I am looking for this one:
2000 EVOLUTION 54(6):2107-2118
Burbrink FT; Lawson R; Slowinski JB
Mitochondrial DNA phylogeography of the polytypic North American rat snake (Elaphe obsoleta): A critique of the subspecies concept
If anyone knows of its existance on the net could they please post the link.
Thanks

Since I'm sure you need more than just the abstract (as you'll get burned if you're only using abstracts; institutions are becoming increasingly aware of this problem and may call you on it), I can supply you with the full-text pdf. You won't find it on the web as it is from a peer reviewed journal that requires a subscription. Luckily, I am subscribed to just about every journal out there so just send me an e-mail to 9rmb1@qlink.queensu.ca and I can send you the file.
Cheers,
Ryan

Thanks Ryan!
'twas a good read.
Before I honker down to start an all-night writing session there is one more article I'd be interested in.
(Never Mind)Rodríguez-Robles, J. A., and J. M. De Jesús-Escobar. 1999. Molecular systematics of New World lampropeltinine snakes (Colubridae): implications for biogeography and evolution of food habits. Biological Journal of the Linnean Society 68(3):355-385
If you happen to have it handy that'd be great. I'd also be interested in something about Pituophis evolving from foxes though I don't know whos Idea that was. No need to go out of your way... it's just a high school bio project and you've already been more than helpful.
Thanks again
Cam
