Tattoo Help
A herper friend is getting inked up his arm. This is basically the first band. He would really like some input on what to expand with it. Figured it would give bored photoshop people something to play with

If I was getting a "fleshy" colored tat like that I would go with red ink to expand or something earthy looking.

yes i did draw that freehand and thank you.
If the guy would consider a tribal, it probably would look best with a background color or a shade kinda thingie and the tribal done i another color then black (think the red color that marisa said would look nice), else the tribal would get the focus of attention and i dont think thats the idea.
anyways, good luck again

Is this the first step of a sleeve? If so, then he/she really needs to be thinking longer term than just that one item. When I was planning my 'socks' it took me over a year to get all the images connected so it would look right, and I had A LOT of help from my artist (they're usually a wealth of ideas if he/she's going to a good one). Otherwise you end up with a bunch of disconnected items and no real theme.
As for expanding on just that....I would suggest keeping a cohesive theme, stick with the same type of artistry. Think biomechanical, there's a great line of work out there based on that of the artist H.R. Giger (do a google; though not many tat artists can do this style). I think something like that would be amazing.

I wouldn't know...it's not my work! I just used it to illustrate the type of tat that I think would compliment the type of band that the guy is starting with!

I think that www.bmezine.com is a great resource for ideas, you can browse tats under a list of themes. Great site for getting ideas, and it's Canadian!!

i get my tattoos done in london, england. i prefer ones with no colour. the colour fades too quickly, especially white. they do become addictive so be warned. lol.
