linking flexwatt??

Well, once again an incident to prove that I severely lack mathematical skills. I incorrectly counted the number of feet of heat tape I required for a rack tonight and cut the strip of heat tape one foot off. Now that's fine because I got the 5 ft I needed for one rack, but now I have 4 ft and a single piece 1ft in length. Is there any possible, safe way of linking two pieces of heat tape together? Could it be soldered together by any chance?

Any help is much appreciated.

Thanks,

-Adam

You cannot solder the flexwatt strips to each other directly. You can make jumpers from one section to another.. Just like you were jumping from one shelf to another on a rack.. Here is a pic..

Thanks for the diagram! It looks like the figure on the right is what I will be going for. The "jumpers" that you mentioned; by the diagram it looks like these are connections just like that between the heat tape and the electrical cord on the existing connection, but just duplicated for this new connection purpose. Please correct me if I'm wrong on this assumption.

thanks again for the info!

Yuppers your right, just get a household extentions cord and cut the length you need out and make the connection like you would normally....
