thaughts

hi i was going to buy a incubator or make one, if i make one what would your thaughts be on usibg low watt heating element to heat slow so my thermostat can read the heat properly, and also on the bottom putting those gel packs for picnics and coolers that you cabn use to keep things hot or cold, would this help maintain steady heat kind of the the bottle of water idea, thanks

Those gel packs or heat packs only hold heat for a predetermined amount of time, so unless your eggs are going to hatch in less than 60 hours, probably not the best idea. If you purchase an accurate, functioning thermostat for an incubator (which I hope you would) you won't have to worry about proper readings. There are a few threads on some homemade incubators in here, I still don't know how to link them, but the two that come to mind are JDouglas' cooler incubator and Roy Stockwells cabinet incubators. Both very different but from what I've seen, both work great. Good luck.
