leucistic leo, worth it?
Im just wondering what a good price for a leucistic leopard gecko is. I have been looking at one in a pet store and its $90.00 and its the coolest leopard gecko I have ever seen in person. Im hoping to buy it this week if anyone thinks I should go for it. Its not exactly the whitest I have ever seen (faded yellow). I was thinking of letting her mate with my male tang thats 50/50 patternless. I will get a pic up for my male A.S.A.P. Also, they have about 5 more leopard geckos which are a bit smaller and are 70.00 and im thinkin of buying them if they know the sexes.

A leucistic leopard is the same as a patternless, I looked it up on the net, I wasnt sure if they were the same either.
You can most likley get ones for a better price from a breeder.

If I remeber correctly the true Leucistics are Blizzards. If it is a patternless I would say it is To Much, how big is it, Baby, adult, or sub-adult? My local petstore sold my Juvie Patty for $40. You should go to a repshow if there are any around you. You would be able to find leo's much cheaper.

Leu's and Blizzard's are different, I read something about them in my manual and it said they were often confused, but they are different.

Blizzard and patternless are different. Patternless (formerly incorrectly called leucistic) are yellow, no spots, and can turn dark purplish-grey when cold or stressed. Blizzards are white, but have been known to turn yellowish with age.
A patternless for $90 is way over-priced IMHO. You can get a good healthy patternless for $50, sometimes even $40 around S. Ontario, and I'm pretty sure they're not that uncommon in BC to demand double the price.

50/50? I don't quite get it. If you're thinking 'white' is normal for the 'leucistic' you saw, then you might be thinking blizzard. You'd have to know just what genetics your 50/50 male has so you can figure out what you'll get. Crossing a patternless/leucistic with a blizzard will get you normal looking babies, unless the parents are het for one or the other trait.

Its pretty hard to get a nicely priced leopard gecko around here and I dont know of any breeders on Vancouver Island. Im stuck at the moment. Most pet stores I go to have leopard geckos for $80 but there only normal!! I also dont wanna order from toronto because the shipping is $60. Anyone know any breeders on the island or near the island?

I would do the smart thing and skip the pet store ALTOGETHER and buy directly from a breeder who not only has better prices, healthier animals, but is obviously knowledgable with the species as well.
No brainer.
