I've noticed that the rubbermaid shoeboxes are getting tough to find -- don't know if those are the ones you mean. I tried the sterlites as well, and they lasted a night before I tossed 'em. I found a dozen at a Walmart a week ago and bought them all up on the spot. Canadian Tire still carries the black ones.

I do to..my whole rack is measured to that!!!
I use those type only, and love them. I also found that at the canadian tire I went to, they only had them in black, and not clear.

Sterlite's lids suck....
And I've had quite a few crack while putting in airholes -- that's yet to happen to me with a rubbermaid...
Edit:

The ones I were talking about are the 16" x 8" x 5" size ones(approx) -- the ones for hatchlings. They're getting harder to find as well. I hope the 23"x16"x6" ones are still being made, I need to build a rack next year...

Rubbermaid discontinued both of those sizes as of January 1, 2003. I read this on Boaphile Plastics site; they redesigned all of their new racks to fit Sterilte tubs now because of that.

if cracking is a prob just put a peice of wood behind where your drilling and you shouldnt have a prob..... if all else fails heat up the bit and melt it through

yeah, cracking isn't a problem. i melt all of my holes. i was really counting on some rubbermaids though. i plan to build a rack that will hold about 36 containers. i don't know if i should build one long rack or a couple short ones. anyway, i'll work something out.
