Cheap camera?

I have two BPs, and would like to take some nice shots of them to show off and maybe to frame for my desk. I'm an ok photographer, but not too into the technical side (don't know how to load film into a 35mm...I have drop in) I have your standard 35mm point and shoot right now, but I have to stand back so far that my boys just look like little blobs in a huge picture, if I get any closer the pic gets fuzzier and fuzzier. Is there a reasonably priced camera that would take pretty good close up shots of a small snake (the boys are only about 20" long right now) I'm not really looking to get into photography...just don't have $300 to spend on a good camera right now. I'd prefer to get a film cam rather than a dig because I can't afford a top-step photo quality printer, and I'd like to have pics in my hand to show off (besides, I can always get one of those picture CDs from WalMart, right?) Thanks for the help!

You would need a close up lens for a film camera which you probably won't find for a point and shoot camera. Even a close up lens for a SLR (professional type) camera is pretty expensive. Your best be is find a camera with really good zoom or a digital with a macro mode.

With cameras you get what you pay for. save the extra $ and get your self an slr with a decent macro lens... you can get a used slr body and lense at a decent camera shop (not walmart, japan camera or your parking lot photostop) like henrys ( www.henrys.com )

I don't know what's availible down there, but in any decent city you should have a bunch of camera shops.

Photography is one place where having the right tools helps with the quality.
