Who in Canada works with V. rudicollis?

I'm just asking because I think they are the coolest looking things ever, and if I could get 2 species of monitors, it would be them & ackies. That, and they're on my herp dreamlist . What? It's a DREAMlist! lol. Thanks,
Mike

Black rough-necks? Probably no one in Canada. But guys in the States do, and they are NOT illegal to import/export so just get them from the States.

As far as I am aware, there is no one producing true captive bred rudi's on a regular basis anywhere in North America. If someone out there is, they are awfully quiet about it

Bear in mind that bringing any monitor across internation borders will require an import/export permit, insepction by F&W, and CITES permits. Indo/Pacific Monitors aren't hard to move across borders, but for less than 10 animals would be pretty pointless as the appropriate paperwork and inspections can be costly.

Maybe in a while then...

Oh well, I guess thats alright. But I probably wouldn't be able to get them for another 5-10 years anyways, so hopefully they'll be being produced then. A guy can always hope, can't he?

They are a commonly imported species, so if you REALLY have the desire to work with them they are pretty readily available. Personally, I only ever work with wild caught animals if captive bred aren't available, and I am making every effort I can to reproduce them. With the exception of that reason, I see not just cause to justify supporting the wild caught Varanid industry.
