Cali King won't eat

Hi, I work at a pet store, and am trying to get our Cali King to eat. He's only 12 inches, and we got him in on 11/18, so I think he's a hatchling. He ate a live pinky right away on 11/19, but I have been trying to feed him since then, but he won't even try to strike at the pinky(he knows it's there too. He'll look at it, then move away). I've heard that hatcling kings want lizards, is that true? How should I go about getting him to eat?

Thanks.

Hi, try getting a plastic margine container with some small holes in it and some paper towel in there. Put the snake in and leave it in there overnight. If he doesn't eat that probaly means he is going into shed, that will take 1-2 weeks for him to start eating again.

I agree with Keven.

Also, it would be nice if you could get him feeding on frozen/thawed prey to save the future buyer some grief. Snakes that feed on frozen/thawed prey also sell better. Maybe try leaving a thawed pinky in the margerine container with the snake.

Even if he doesn't eat for a week or two you shouldn't have anything to worry about. Just keep offering prey every 5 days or so and try not to stress him out.

Good Luck
Cam
