Unhappy Sore nose and shedding

My Colombian BCI has a sore on his nose from rubbing against the screen lid, and I've been treating it.

Well, he just shed and there's a piece of shed stuck around where the sore is. I misted it and gently tried removing it, but its quite firmly attached so I've left it alone.

Any suggestions? Will he shed it off, or do I need to remove this shed?

Thanks.

Leave it alone and apply some antibiotic ointment to it. There is no good reason to try and remove it. Let it come off on its own. What might help is to get some nylon screen and use it to line the inside of the screen cover you are using now. It will create a bit of a smoother surface for him. Even better would be to move him into a Rubbermaid until the sore is healed. Then fix the permanent cage so that it can’t happen again. I’m going through the same thing right now with my two of my Hog Island boas. I moved them to different cages and they have stopped.
Cheers,
Trevor

Thanks much Trevor

Originally I had a piece of plexi on one side of the tank, screen on the other ( the commercial screen tops )....the plexi was there to create some added warmth on that side of the tank....it's since been removed as he was trying to escape via between the plexi and screen.....so I'm not entirely sure if the injury was from the screen or plexi. He hasn't been trying to push at the screen anymore.

I'll watch him carefully.
