Question for BCI breeders.
Do you turn you heat pads off at night while cycling?
I've been following Jeff Rone's modle from his video and his article in the boa constrictor manual and he says not to turn them off. He says that they get cycled just with day length and with food reduction. Well I've followed that to a "T" but my male doesn't seem interested. He could be too small too though.
Here he is back in july or august.
So two questions, do you turn your heat off at night and let the cage drop to room temp and does he look big enough?
Thanks,
Trevor

I did not turn my heat pads off at all, but i did drop the room temp down a few degrees. My male which is smaller than yours in that pic went at it with her for almost 2 months, and she just ovulated here a few days ago.
That male deffinitely looks big enough, but how old is he?

Well this is the first time I'm breeding boas and I had originally been following the "Ronne Method" and they went at it right away.
I decided to plug the heat pad into the light timer anyway though because it basically serves no purpose lately, they're both sticking to the cool side nearly all the time. Have yours been using the heat at all?

They normally stuck around the middle of the cage while doing there thing, but who knows where they went when the lights were out, so thats why i left it on.
Now my female is near the heat most of the time since i seen ovulation, but the male just seems to want the hell out of there...lol

This is what I was doing too. The hot spots are set to 88-90 and the room was droping to 75 at night. Most nights some nights if the house was warm it didn't get down much pass 80. But I was trying for 75.

Did you introduce and then seperate and re-introduce or was he at it right away?
Not a hundred percent sure but he must be close to two.

The female was some times but now she seems to be over on the cool side all the time.
