suggestions

I have a beautiful large tank that has a bowed front glass, so the lid has to be that shape, now i used for fish and i have a lid but its not going to do for a snake (holes in it from pumps)

what i want to do is take off the top border(i hope you know what i mean) and fit a screen on to it and use that as lid.

now the silicone that is attaching this to glass im having hard time getting off

any suggestions as to an easier way? im scraping away and trying to pry off.but its really on there(2 yrold tank so silicone hasent dryrotted or loosened in any way)
thank you

I've resealed alot of aquariums and as far as I know there is no easier way to remove old silicone. Just have to use the razor blade method (carefully please).

Country:
just gotta cut away and pry at the same time... thats what i do when taking out windows.. use both hands at once and maybe shove a pen or a bic lighter between the glass and frame to hold a steady pressure...
