Another lizard to ID

Here's another one, courtesy of the SPCA. It appears to be an Alligator Lizard but does not seem to match up with anything in our field guides or reptile atlas. Any help appreciated...

I am certain it is Gerrhosaurus... when I worked for a reptile dealer, we had those exact ones coming in once on a shipment. They came in as Gerrhosaurus flavigularis...they were exactly as pictured above........ that said, we had a number of subsequent shipments of flavigularis, and the animals were heavier bodied, and had red flecks on their flanks. We never managed to get a shipment the same as the first.

That is indeed it- G. flavigularis, or the Yellow-throated Plated Lizard. I had briefly considered plateds but the pic I looked up was G. major, which does seem more heavy bodied, and without the stripes. Thanks, double J, for the help!

Ooo yeah, Gerrhosaurus flavigularis, or the Yellow-throated Plated Lizard for certain. Great little critters. I was short shipped and only got one however. If you want to re-home him, he can hang out here with mine.

Hey Gary,

It will be a little while before things get sorted out by the OSPCA, but it may become available for adoption. Not sure whether it could be adopted out-of-province, or whether the shipping cost would be worth it:-) We certainly don't want to have it long-term. I'll let you know what happens.

Oh, and thanks, Derrick, for enlarging the pic. How'd you do that, anyway??? I'm not even sure why it was so small- I did everything the same as the other lizard pic, and it was fine.

Jeff, you just forgot to click to enlarge the pic before you copied the url..
You can also simply change the end of the url manually from -thumb to -med or remove the size criteria completely to get the full size you uploaded providing it isn't too big

Jeff let me know. I can probably put together a couple of animal purchases from your neck of the woods which would make shipping worth while. It look possibly female, so it's value to me is higher.

Perhaps they're not as visable in that photo as I hoped. But these guys have huge femoral pores for their size. They look like fringe.
